Appelbaum uses color infrared photography, originally developed to detect camouflaged targets in surveillance and forensic investigations, to capture these highly surveilled individuals in relaxed, everyday settings.  William Binney is a former NSA official and whistleblower of the George W. Bush era, who continues to publicly criticize the US government’s surveillance of citizens.
