Zero Magic is a trick for the financial markets, which has the capacity to undermine the perceived value of a publicly traded company and profit from this. The piece was developed by infiltrating a secretive American hedge fund, which specializes in short selling, in order to reverse engineer its methods. Abacuses surround a magic box filled with information about these financial manipulations. The magician Malin Nilsson has also introduced audiences to the piece through stage performances – in its first presentation in Helsinki in 2015 it realized a 64.7 percent profit for the audience. A US patent application for the trick was filed in January 2016.
