Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley

May 2 - July 26, 2025

OPENING: Friday, 02 May 2025, 6-9 PM

On the occasion of Gallery Weekend Berlin 2025, NOME is pleased to present UNCENSORED, a solo exhibition by Berlin-based artist and archivist Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, marking her first collaboration with the gallery. Known for her immersive installations blending animation, painting, sound, and performance, Brathwaite-Shirley explores intersectionality and misrepresentation through discomfort and fear.

Brathwaite-Shirley’s practice acts as a diary, blurring the boundaries between reality, simulation, and subconscious experiences. Through the use of horror and uncanny figures, she draws viewers into experiences and emotions they would typically avoid, fostering empathy through shared discomfort.

UNCENSORED premieres new works—paintings, drawings, clothing racks, sound, and video—that confront viewers with emotions we often suppress. Addressing rising censorship, the show creates a space for buried conversations, prompting audiences to question their beliefs and reactions.
