Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley’s (she/they) practice centers on preserving the histories and experiences of Black Trans people, using technology as a tool for both archiving and activism. Their multimedia installations and interactive projects challenge conventional narratives, inviting audiences to engage with underrepresented voices in in ways that are both thought-provoking and immersive. Through interactive projects like Black Trans Archive (2021), Brathwaite-Shirley creates digital spaces that celebrate resilience and resistance, offering a powerful counter-narrative to marginalization. By animating video games and online platforms, Brathwaite-Shirley encourages participants to actively engage with the stories presented, making choices that influence their direction and outcome.
