Notes on a Condition is a nine-part graphic story reflecting on the lived experience of participating in a Phase III clinical trial for Gilenya, the first oral medication developed for treating multiple sclerosis (MS). The work intertwines personal narrative with the pharmacological origins of the drug, whose active substance is derived from a particular parasitic fungus that infects cicadas’ heads. Through this series, Goldin+Senneby explore the entanglement of medical science, the body, and more-than-human life, offering an intimate meditation on illness, care, and pharmaceutical biopolitics.
