James Clapper, 2015
Paolo Cirio

Acrylic paint on Photographic Paper
91 x 106 cm
Photo: Gianmarco Bresadola

For Overexposed, Cirio tracked down photographs and selfies of government officials in order to consider the aftermath of the Snowden affair and satirize an era of ubiquitous surveillance and over-mediated political personas. The works are produced via a specially developed HD stencil technique.  James Clapper is the current director of National Intelligence. He consistently gave false testimony on NSA surveillance programs, resulting in several lawsuits against him.
