Iconographies transforms the classic theme of Judith & Holofernes, where biblical heroine Judith beheads the ruthless general Holofernes, before he can destroy her city. The tale has been interpreted in hundreds of historical paintings; this work translates that of Lavinia Fontana (1600, oil on canvas), considered the first woman artist of Baroque Italy, into an abstract engraving on aluminum.
