For Hard Copy, Matthew Plummer-Fernandez produced four 3D prints of popular cultural icons, remixed and distorted in a computer modelling program, alongside the sculptures’ translations into .png image files. The polyamide figures suggest the strange futures of these familiar cartoons – whose images are reproduced widely on file-sharing sites – and stand as emblems for questions of copyright and participatory internet culture. Goku, the protagonist of the Dragon Ball manga series, is spun in a whirlpool of his signature power move.
