The Book of Nelson features a 3D-printed translucent replica of a gun once owned by the artist’s uncle, Nelson, who had carried it hidden in a hollowed-out law book during the Jim Crow era. Infused with ashes from an American flag, the work speaks to a history of resistance shaped by racial violence and vulnerability.
