Zoo List documents over six hundred cases of so-called “human zoos”—ethnographic exhibitions in which people were displayed as spectacles. Spanning nearly seventy meters, the work presents detailed information on each case, including the origin of the individuals exhibited, the host country and city, the exhibition site and year, the number of people involved, and additional observations. By meticulously cataloging these events, Zoo List exposes the vast scale of this colonial practice, confronting the historical normalization of racialized exploitation and objectification.
