Cultus Dominatur, 2018

Dayrit’s embroidered cartographic works reclaim mapmaking as an emancipatory activity. Cultus Dominatur represents the supercontinent of Pangea from 240 million years ago, with modern English place names and symbols relating to plunder – an oil rig, an oil palm, a bomb, crosshair targets, and a triangle of inequality.
