Avril Haines, 2015
Paolo Cirio

Acrylic paint on Photographic Paper
91 x 106 cm
Photo: Gianmarco Bresadola

For Overexposed, Cirio tracked down photographs and selfies of government officials in order to consider the aftermath of the Snowden affair and satirize an era of ubiquitous surveillance and over-mediated political personas. The works are produced via a specially developed HD stencil technique.  Avril Haines is the current White House Deputy National Security Advisor, and previously served as deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the first woman to hold this position. [Haines was also Obama’s direct advisor on the controversial Targeted Killings.
