James Comey, 2015
Paolo Cirio

Acrylic paint on photographic paper
91 x 106 cm
Photo: Gianmarco Bresadola

For Overexposed, Cirio tracked down photographs and selfies of government officials in order to consider the aftermath of the Snowden affair and satirize an era of ubiquitous surveillance and over-mediated political personas. The works are produced via a specially developed HD stencil technique.  James Comey is the director of the FBI. With George Bush’s support, Comey was responsible for sweeping changes in the national surveillance programs and in the prosecution of intelligence leaks.
